All you Need to Know before starting the process to buy a car. A Step-by-Step Guide GST Concession on buying a car by a person with an orthopedic disability.
Why GST Concession is available?
The cost of living is high due to any medical condition: aids, treatments, medicines, etc. For instance, I wear calipers on my foot to walk and it has a recurring cost. The government body understands it and trying to provide some benefit to cover the expenses.
How much is the concession?
The GST rate on adapted vehicles is 18%
When to begin the process?
Whenever you decide to buy a car, the GST process must begin at least 3 months in advance. it may take some time, though the DHI is fast and responsive. For instance, if you want to have a car in June then start your GST process in April.
- Decide on which car you want to buy.
- Visit the dealer and tell them that you would like to go for the GST Concession.
- Fix the model.
- Get the dealer’s email id and contact details.
- Fill the online form.
- Submit
Which type of cars based on capacity and fuel?
Vehicle Length must not exceed 4000 mm the form
Petrol, LPG, CNG
Must not exceed 1200 CC
Diesel
Must not exceed 1500 CC
It is valid for 3 months from the date of issue.
You can’t sell your car for the next 5 years
A person with orthopaedic physical disability must be more than 40%
- UDID card if you have
- Civil Surgeon Certificate in a prescribed format as mentioned in Annexure B only if you don’t have a UDID card
- Date of the Birth proof document
- PAN Card No.
- Aadhar card no
DHI Certificate categorically mentions that the vehicle mandatorily is registered under the ‘Adaptive Vehicle/ Invalid Carriage’ category.
So here you need to make sure
- your dealer must issue and stamp the invoice with a hologram symbol of ‘To be registered as Adapted Vehicle’
- be very careful at the RTO as well
