Like anyone else, people with disabilities also wish to own a car.
Like anyone else, people with disabilities also wish to go out freely with their families, attend college or weddings, go to work, long drives, and shop.
Like anyone else, people with disabilities wish to become independent through driving.
The requirements are the same, but the process is different.
The car buying experience is very different for a person with a disability. The central and state governments have extended their support. A few car companies/ OEMs are open to supporting.
‘Drive On My Own’ may not have answers to all the queries of people with disabilities, but it tries to
Car driving is not difficult.
But due to the lack of driving schools for people with disabilities, it is difficult to learn to drive a four-wheeler.
We provide
Drive On My Own provide driving training sessions. We believe that every person with a disability has some abilities; we rely on those abilities and willpower to help them learn to drive.
The right and relevant information should reach them so that they enhance their knowledge, become aware, and make informed decisions.
We conduct webinars/ seminars to guide, support, and share the procedures and ways to get things done.
We also invite experts to explain the GST, driving license, modification, schemes, and concessions.
Families and friends are support systems in the lives of people with disabilities. They are
certainly well-wishers but not necessarily well-informed. In many personal interactions with families and friends of disabled individuals, there is a lack of ‘community engagement and a platform to inspire each other.
Hence, we meet families and friends over coffee. We interact with them, share and listen to their stories, and build a community of like-minded people.
We have done two meet-ups pre-covid in Chandigarh and Jaipur.
