Anita is popularly known as ‘the girl on four wheels’ due to her passion for driving. She contracted polio when she was six months old, and it left her lower body paralyzed. After multiple surgeries and parental care, she started to walk.
Her parents got her the medical facilities and education.
Anita completed her Ph.D. in Management from the Indian Institute of Management.
Today, she is the founder of Drive On My Own Foundation and two Inkpothub. She teaches Entrepreneurship as a visiting professor, and she is a consultant for a couple of projects.
Bhanwari has been driving her car since 1994. She knows the importance of driving and the kind of independence driving brings in anyone’s life. Hence, she made sure that her daughter (with polio in her lower limbs) become independent and made her learn to drive. Bhanwari got Anita’s car modified (hand-control) and in a few days, Anita started to drive her car. This was a very big achievement for Bhanwari.
In 2021, she co-founded Drive On My Own Foundation with just one thought i.e. she wants to share her life experiences to help parents of children with disabilities.
She is a proud mother of 3 kids and enjoying life with her husband in Jaipur.
In 2019, Drive On My Own was selected as Fellow of India Inclusion Summit and represented it at the global platform.
In 2019, Drive On My Own founder Dr. Anita Sharma was conferred with Dr. Batra’s Positive Health Award (one citation and Rs. One Lakhs cash prize).
In 2021, Dr. Anita Sharma was among the 21 most inspiring women of Rajasthan.
