Collaborations and Partnerships.
Achla learnt to drive at 70. Rahul went back to work. Inshah travelled all the way from Kashmir to learn. Each of them needed someone to make that first lesson possible. A partnership with DOMO lets your organisation be that someone.
Why partner with us
For many persons with reduced mobility, the cost of adaptive driving training, and the lack of anyone nearby who offers it, is what keeps them at home. Some of our learners crossed state borders to reach us. When people travel that far, the need is real and the help is scarce.
DOMO is a Section 8 not-for-profit company founded and led by people who live with disabilities themselves. We know these barriers first-hand, and we design every project around the person, their family and their community. Our work aligns with Schedule VII of the Companies Act, 2013, which covers employment-enhancing vocational skills for persons with disabilities and livelihood enhancement projects.
We also report honestly. We look past the number of sessions delivered to what changed in a person’s life afterwards, and we give credit to everyone who helped make that change. You can see this approach in Real Life, Real Change.
Where your support fits
Every learner moves through four stages, the same ones described in Dream, Dare, Do, Drive. Partners can support one stage or all four.
Dream
Believing it is possible
- Awareness campaigns
- Outreach events for persons with disabilities and their families
Dare
Finding the courage to start
- Peer support and counselling
- Community gatherings to share experience
Do
Building the skill
- Sponsored driving training
- Skill development for work and livelihood
Drive
Making it part of daily life
- Car selection and modification guidance
- Links to jobs and livelihood opportunities
Why partner with us
Sponsored driving training
Fund the full training of one learner or a whole batch, from assessment to training on hand-controlled and adapted cars. You can choose a city, a community or a group, such as women or young persons with disabilities.
Skill development and livelihoods
Driving often decides whether a person can reach a workplace, accept a job or run a business. Support programmes that connect trained drivers with work, so they can earn and contribute at home.
Awareness campaigns and events
Help families learn that adaptive driving is possible, and help car dealers and driving schools serve customers with disabilities better. Our events also bring people together to meet, share and encourage one another.
Inclusive community projects
Independence is easier to keep when families, neighbours and local spaces support it. Partner on projects that improve access to mobility and make communities more welcoming.
Research and advocacy
Information on adaptive driving in India is limited and scattered. Support our work to record what persons with disabilities need and what works, and to speak up for their right to safe, independent mobility under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016.
Employee engagement
Your teams can attend sensitization workshops, volunteer at events or mentor trained learners looking for work. Many employees come away with a closer understanding of disability, which they carry back into the workplace.
Beyond CSR
What you can expect from us
- Projects planned around the real needs of the people they serve, with clear goals from the start
- Regular updates and careful financial management
- Reports that show what was delivered, what changed and what lasted
- Real stories from learners and families, shared only with their consent
