Disability Sensitization and Inclusion
Inclusion begins with awareness. Most people want to treat persons with disabilities fairly but are unsure how. DOMO helps organisations close that gap. Our work brings lived experience of disability, academic training in management and years of advising companies on equity, diversity, and inclusion. We work with Corporates, Academic Institutions, Governments, and Event organisers, guided by the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, and what works in practice.
Sensitization Workshops
Our workshops explain what disability means, including disabilities that cannot be seen, the barriers people face at work, in public places and on the road, and the rights set out in the Act. Participants then learn respectful language and everyday etiquette: asking before helping, speaking to the person rather than their companion, and respecting mobility aids as personal space. We run workshops for different stakeholders. Each workshop is planned around its audience.
Events and Awareness Campaigns
DOMO runs awareness campaigns and outreach events for persons with disabilities and their families. These events share practical information on adaptive driving, vehicle modifications and the concessions available. They also bring people together. Persons with disabilities and their families meet others in similar situations, exchange experiences and learn from those who have already found their way to greater independence. For many, meeting someone who drives on their own is the encouragement they need to take the first step.
Disability Inclusion Consultation
Inclusion lasts only when it becomes part of daily practice. We assess where an organisation stands and build a strategy with clear priorities, responsibilities and timelines. We review recruitment to remove barriers for candidates with disabilities, and set up a fair process for reasonable accommodation, a right under the Act, including training managers to handle requests with respect and confidentiality. We also assess physical and digital accessibility, help set up disability Employee Resource Groups, and review HR policies, including the equal opportunity policy the Act requires, so that written commitments change what happens at work.
